The current members of the Parish Council are Carlton Veltz, Sylvia Sanchez, William Caffey, Cynthia Sanders and Christopher Lopez.  The Parish Council is an advisory board to the Pastor of the parish and is not a legislative body.  They are also the “voice” of the parish community and are the ones that you bring your concerns or your cares about the pastoral, spiritual and communal life of the parish.  The current members of the Parish Finance Council are: Doreen Badeaux, Barbara Smith and Patrick Flannigan .  The Parish Finance Council’s role, as stated by the Code of Canon Law, in collaboration with the Pastor, oversees the Parish Finances, the Parish Resources, The Parish Fiscal Budget and the Temporal Goods of the Parish.  The Parish Finance Council is established by Church Law to ensure financial stability, protection of the parish finances as well as the Temporal Goods of the Parish.  It is important that as Pastor of St. James  Church you are informed as to who are the Lay leaders of your parish and that you present yourselves to them to offer your concerns or cares of the parish.  And also note that I’m available to address any concerns or cares you may have.  Remember that communication and collaboration is the key to success!

All are welcome!

St. James Catholic Church is dedicated to the principles of spreading the Word of God to the people of Port Arthur by our witness, actions, and evangelization. We will proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ throughout our community and contribute to the growth of our parish through worship and commitment as we reflect Christ's presence in the world and experience the abiding peace and joy that comes with the Catholic faith as we lead each other closer to Christ.

We are pleased you are here and invite you to become a member of this congregation.
We welcome you with open arms!
